Description
This small tin is decorated with Marriage a la mode which is a painting by William Hogarth, this particular picture is one of a series of paintings between 1743 and 1745 intended by Hogarth as a pointed skewering of 18th-century society. They show the disastrous results of an ill-considered marriage for money or social status and satirize patronage and aesthetics.
